Casemiro Set to Depart Manchester United at End of 2025‑26 Season

Manchester United have officially confirmed that seasoned Brazilian midfielder Casemiro will leave the club at the end of the 2025‑26 season, when his contract expires.

The announcement came in a club statement this week, ending months of speculation over the future of one of the Premier League’s most decorated midfielders.

Casemiro Set To Depart Manchester United

Casemiro, 33, joined United from Real Madrid in August 2022 for a reported £60–70 million fee.

Since arriving at Old Trafford, he quickly became a central figure in the team’s midfield, earning praise from fans and pundits for his leadership, tenacity, and big‑game contributions. Over four seasons, he made 146 appearances and scored 21 goals across competitions.

Trophy Success & Impact at Old Trafford

During his United career, Casemiro enjoyed notable success. He played a vital role in Manchester United’s 2023 Carabao Cup victory, scoring with a powerful header in the final — a moment now etched in club history.

He also helped United lift the 2024 FA Cup, contributing to a memorable campaign with important performances in key matches.

These achievements helped solidify his place in the hearts of the club’s supporters, who appreciated his combative style and ability to make an impact in big moments. While United have not consistently challenged for the Premier League title during his stay, Casemiro brought experience and winning mentality to a squad in transition.

Contract Situation & Departure Officially Confirmed

United’s announcement made it clear that Casemiro’s contract will run until the end of this season, with no extension option being exercised by the club.

Although his deal included a clause that could have extended his stay by another year, United chose not to trigger it. Part of this decision reportedly stems from the club’s ongoing efforts to rebuild the squad and reduce its wage bill.

Casemiro confirmed the news personally on his social media, describing his decision as one made with mutual respect and gratitude.

He wrote about knowing “when stages come to an end” and wanting to leave while feeling “remembered and respected.”

The midfielder also stressed that he has four months left to give his all for Manchester United before departing as a free agent.

In the club’s official statement, Manchester United thanked Casemiro “for his contributions in red so far” and expressed the hope that the team can finish his final season together on a high.

An Emotional Farewell & Final Months

Casemiro’s farewell message was heartfelt and reflective. He spoke about the passion he experienced at Old Trafford from the very first day and highlighted the connection he felt with the supporters.

“I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life,” he said, underlining how much the club meant to him personally.

Despite confirmation of his future departure, Casemiro stressed that now is not the time to say goodbye

Instead, he emphasized that there are “many more memories to create” during the remainder of the campaign — encouraging fans and teammates alike to remain focused on collective goals for the season.

To give supporters a chance to honour his time at the club, United have said that fans will be encouraged to show their appreciation for Casemiro at his final home game, which is scheduled against Nottingham Forest in May.

Looking Ahead: What Casemiro’s Exit Means for United

Casemiro’s departure marks the end of an era for Manchester United’s midfield. A player with multiple Champions League titles to his name from his Real Madrid days, he brought leadership and experience to a team in need of both.

While his form has varied in recent seasons amid managerial changes and tactical shifts, his influence remains significant in the club’s recent history.

With his exit confirmed, Manchester United will now enter the summer transfer window with a clear need to refresh their midfield options — potentially targeting younger talent to rebuild around.

For Casemiro, who will leave Old Trafford as a free agent, the next stage of his career could take him to another league or club looking for a proven leader and experienced campaigner.
